Frequently asked questions

Is Livewell Learning Studio an accredited school?

Livewell is not an accredited school—and that’s by design. We are a private enrichment and leadership academy that partners with homeschooling families to provide a rich, full-time educational experience rooted in hands-on learning, personal growth, and family values.

By operating outside of the traditional school system, we have the freedom to create a community learning environment that’s purposeful, personalized, and free from state mandates or political agendas. Our families maintain full control and responsibility over their child’s academic path, while we provide the structure, community, mentorship, and real-world learning that bring it all to life.

Families enrolled with us file independently as homeschoolers (or through a PSA or private homeschool affidavit) and we’re here to support that journey every step of the way.

Who is Livewell a fit for?

Livewell is designed for families who want more than traditional education—families who value freedom, responsibility, and deep connection. We’re a fit for parents seeking a safe, intentional space where their children can grow in confidence, curiosity, and character.

Our program is ideal for learners who thrive in hands-on environments, where projects are meaningful, learning is personalized, and passions are honored. Whether your child is highly creative, entrepreneurial, nature-loving, leadership-driven, or simply in need of a place where they can be fully seen and supported, Livewell offers an alternative path that respects your family’s values and your child’s potential.

We are especially aligned with families who prioritize medical freedom, informed choice, and wellness as part of their lifestyle. At Livewell, your rights as a parent are honored—and your values are protected.

Why does Livewell Learning Studio require private membership?

Livewell operates as a private membership-based learning studio to preserve the freedom, safety, and values that our families care deeply about.

By becoming a member, families join a like-minded community that shares a commitment to parental rights, medical freedom, purposeful education, and a childhood experience free from political or ideological influence. Our private structure allows us to set our own standards, create intentional learning spaces, and remain independent from state mandates that don’t align with our mission.

Requiring membership helps ensure that every child and family in our space is here by choice, aligned in values, and committed to the kind of respectful, high-trust environment where deep learning and personal growth can happen.

What is a learner driven program?

A learner-driven program empowers students to take ownership of their education by giving them voice, choice, and responsibility in how they learn. At Livewell, this looks different depending on a child’s age and stage.

In our Cubs Studio (ages 3–7), we lay the foundation through guided routines, rich storytelling, and self-directed play—which we believe is the most powerful form of learning in early childhood. Through purposeful play, children develop independence, creativity, social-emotional skills, and problem-solving abilities that prepare them for more structured, learner-driven experiences as they grow.

As students mature, they begin setting personal goals, engaging in collaborative projects, and taking the lead in their learning journey—with educators as mentors, not managers.

The benefits? Confidence, critical thinking, strong communication skills, and a deep love for learning. A learner-driven environment helps children grow into capable, curious, and self-motivated individuals—prepared to thrive in the real world.

Why a learner-driven program?

Because children were never meant to sit still, be quiet, and wait to be told what to think. At Livewell, we believe that when children are trusted, supported, and given the freedom to lead their own learning journey, they rise.

A learner-driven program honors each child’s unique gifts, pace, and purpose. It builds confidence, accountability, and independence—not through lectures and worksheets, but through real-world challenges, meaningful work, and personal ownership.

Learner-driven doesn’t mean “anything goes.” In fact, structure, boundaries, and clear expectations are what allow children to thrive in this model. Our framework is designed to provide just enough guidance for each student to feel safe, supported, and challenged—while still having the space to make choices, solve problems, and take responsibility for their learning.

We’ve seen what happens when kids are empowered to explore, create, and lead: they come alive. They discover who they are, what they care about, and how they want to contribute to the world. That’s why we do it. Because the future needs more leaders, not just rule followers.

What are the logistics? What does a typical week look like?

Livewell operates Monday through Friday, with full-time and part-time membership options, as well as drop-in availability for enrolled members. Our day begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:30 PM, with a flexible 30-minute drop-off window each morning.

Each week, children are immersed in creative learning experiences, meaningful social connection, and exciting enrichment opportunities. Mornings are intentionally structured: younger children rotate through small-group academic stations focused on foundational skills like reading, writing, and math, while older students work independently on their personalized academic coursework with guidance as needed.

Afternoons are where the magic happens—dedicated to hands-on projects, real-world challenges, and learner-led experiences that bring education to life. Children engage with passionate mentors and expert guides who lead enrichment activities in areas such as entrepreneurship, science, performing arts, outdoor survival, and more.

No two weeks look exactly the same—but every day is purposeful, engaging, and rooted in curiosity and growth.

How do you ensure children are learning and growing?

At Livewell, growth isn’t measured by a single number—it’s reflected in how a child thinks, questions, creates, and engages with the world around them. Every child is different, and we honor that by working closely with families and our credentialed academic advisors to create intentional learning paths aligned with both personal passions and educational goals.

We have clear learning objectives and systems in place to support academic, personal, and project-based growth. Younger children learn in small groups during foundational skill-building time, while older students are guided through independent work using rubrics that clarify expectations and stretch their thinking.

Children showcase their learning in meaningful ways—through hands-on projects, written reflections, public presentations, creative displays, and digital or video portfolios. In our Lion Studio, students share their work during end-of-session Expos, giving families a front-row seat to their progress and discoveries.

We also offer optional standardized assessments in the fall and spring for families seeking benchmark data, though they’re just one of many tools we use.

Most importantly, we stay focused on what matters: raising curious, capable, and confident thinkers who are growing in depth—not just checking boxes.

Do you provide records, report cards and transcripts?

Because we are not a school, Livewell doesn’t provide report cards or transcripts; however, when you become a member in our Community, our parent curriculum can guide you on how to create one and help you through the process. When you homeschool thru a California PSA (Private School Affidavit) you are responsible for keeping your own records, creating your own report cards and transcripts. Transcripts are typically only needed for High School grade levels. Here is a great resource for you to learn more about Report Cards and Transcripts for your homeschoolers.

However, we do help families track growth and progress through personalized portfolios, session summaries, project rubrics, and learning reflections. These tools showcase what your child has accomplished and learned—academically, socially, and creatively—and can be used to supplement homeschool records or end-of-year evaluations.

Can my child still get into college or meet graduation requirements?

Yes—absolutely. Many homeschoolers are successfully admitted to colleges, trade schools, internships, and entrepreneurial programs every year, and the same is true for Livewell students. Because families at Livewell are legally homeschooling—either through a Private School Affidavit (PSA) or homeschool charter—they are responsible for maintaining academic records and fulfilling graduation requirements. We support this process by helping families track learning progress, develop transcripts, and document high school coursework as needed. In fact, Livewell’s learner-driven, project-based model often enhances a student’s college or career readiness. Through public presentations, community ventures, leadership roles, and real-world projects, students build strong portfolios and develop the confidence, communication skills, and self-direction that admissions teams love to see.

A growing number of colleges and universities—including top-tier schools like Harvard, Yale, and Stanford—actively welcome and admit homeschoolers. Some, such as UC Riverside, even recruit them. While the application process may look a little different, homeschoolers often stand out for their independence, creativity, and strong sense of purpose. Students may choose to submit portfolios of work, letters of recommendation, or standardized test scores like the CLEP or Stanford Achievement Test to support their applications. The bottom line: if a Livewell student wants to pursue college, they absolutely can—and many homeschoolers are thriving at some of the most respected universities in the country.

Does Livewell offer rolling admission?

If we have space, we are happy to accommodate your application for immediate consideration. We try to maintain an equilibrium of all ages. If there is a spot available for your child's age, we can take the next steps in the membership process.

Can Livewell accommodate neurodiverse learners or those with unique learning needs?

We believe that neurodiversity is something to be respected and embraced. Every child learns and engages differently—and at Livewell, we work hard to create an environment that honors those differences with curiosity, compassion, and flexibility.

Our learner-driven model, small group ratios, and personalized approach can be especially supportive for children who may not thrive in traditional settings. Many of our students benefit from the freedom to move, create, lead, and learn in ways that feel natural to them.

That said, neurodiversity is a broad spectrum. While we are able to support many learners with mild to moderate learning differences or unique learning styles, we are not a therapeutic or special education program. Children requiring intensive behavioral support, 1:1 care, or higher-level interventions may need a different setting that can better meet those needs.

We’re committed to being honest about fit, and we welcome open conversations with families to explore whether Livewell is the right environment for their child to thrive.

How does Livewell approach gender/race/age theory, ideology, and expression?

At Livewell, we believe childhood is sacred and that learning should be rooted in curiosity, respect, and truth—not ideology. We do not teach or promote gender theory, critical race theory, age-based social hierarchies, or any form of social or political programming. These conversations are deeply personal and we believe they belong at home, within the care and guidance of each family’s values and beliefs.

Our role is to create a safe and respectful space for all children—one that protects innocence, encourages critical thinking, and upholds high standards for kindness and character. We model respectful dialogue and teach students how to think for themselves, not what to think.

We intentionally maintain a neutral learning environment that steers clear of political agendas or identity-based ideologies. This allows children to focus on developing strong minds, meaningful relationships, and a secure sense of self—without confusion or pressure to conform to narratives outside their family’s values.
